The oven works perfectly, but its thermostat knob has melted. The manufacturer no longer sells it, the model is eight years old, and the only listing you can find online offers the part at an absurd price from the other side of the world. You know how it goes: either you improvise with a pair of pliers, or the appliance goes to the tip over ten grams of plastic.

Why these parts are impossible to find
Most manufacturers only stock spare parts for a few years after a model is discontinued. Past that point, the catalog empties, resellers clear their remaining stock, and the part disappears. Plastic injection molding, the industrial process that made the original part, requires an expensive mold: nobody restarts production for ten units. 3D printing, by contrast, makes one unit from a simple 3D file. That's what changes everything.
The 10 parts we're asked about most
1. The washing machine, oven or hob knob
The great classic. Used every day, it eventually splits around the shaft. Its geometry is simple to reproduce from the broken part and a few measurements, and it reprints in PLA or PETG depending on heat exposure. PLA is the standard material for indoor parts; PETG offers better mechanical resistance.
2. The dishwasher or microwave door hinge
A small part with big consequences: without it, the door no longer holds and the appliance becomes unusable. This is typically the part a manufacturer stops listing after a few years, while the rest of the machine still has a long life ahead of it.
3. The curtain rod clip or end cap
Curtain rods are sold as kits, never individually. One broken end cap, and you're pushed into buying the whole kit again. These parts face no serious stress and are easy to reproduce, including in several identical copies with a discount to match.
4. The furniture foot or appliance pad
A fridge foot, a washing machine pad, a chair end cap from a discontinued range. An ordinary part, impossible to find as soon as the reference disappears, and one that a simple set of caliper measurements is often enough to remodel.
5. The fan blade or grille
The fan still turns, but a blade has given way and the whole thing vibrates. Replacing the blade rather than the appliance is the very spirit of the anti-waste approach: extending the life of an object that works.
6. The battery cover or tool handle
Drills, sanders, hedge trimmers: battery covers and handle housings disappear from catalogs fast. As long as the motor runs, it would be a shame to buy the tool again over a plastic shell.
7. The car trim clip
Dashboard clips, interior screw covers, parcel shelf mounts. Dealers often only sell them with the entire trim panel. An interior part, away from the high temperatures of the engine bay, reprints well; we confirm the material with the quote.
8. The toy wheel or axle
A wooden train that has lost a wheel, a toy car axle, a mislaid board game piece. We reproduce generic parts of this kind without difficulty. One limit only: no reproduction of licensed parts (figurines, trademarked elements), and you remain responsible for the rights on the files you send us.
9. The vacuum cleaner accessory nozzle or holder
Vacuum accessories break at the joint, where the stress is highest. The manufacturer sells the complete accessory, when they still sell it at all. A joint reprinted in PETG, mechanically tougher than PLA, puts the crevice tool or brush back into service.
10. The blind knob, crank or handle
An awning crank, a roller shutter knob, a roof window opening rod end. Exposed parts, heavily used, and almost never sold separately. Depending on the need, a flexible material like TPU (a soft plastic that absorbs impacts) can even replace a part that was acting as a damper.

You don't need a 3D file to get started. Take three or four sharp photos of the broken part from several angles, with a ruler or calipers visible for scale, and note the constraints it faces (heat, moisture, impacts). Do I need a 3D file to have a part remade?
No. Sharp photos with a visible scale and a few measurements are enough to assess the request. If modeling is needed, it's priced separately in the quote so you know exactly what you're paying for.
Will the printed part be as strong as the original?
That depends on the part and its use. For the vast majority of household parts (knobs, clips, mounts, end caps), a well-chosen PLA or PETG does the job. When a part faces stresses too strong for 3D printing, we say so at quoting time rather than delivering something that won't hold.
How long between the request and receiving the part?
The quote is free and sent within 24 hours. After acceptance, production starts within 12 hours on working days and takes 3 to 5 working days depending on complexity.
Can you reproduce any part at all?
