Food contact: direct or indirect

This is the point to be clear about. A part printed by filament deposition has fine striations between layers: they can retain residue and make perfect cleaning harder. For indirect contact — storage holding packaged food, jars, utensils, a cupboard organizer — that's no problem at all. For direct, prolonged contact with unpackaged food, it's better to discuss it upfront: depending on the piece, we'd steer toward a suitable material, a specific finish, or a design that simply avoids direct contact. Heat, washing and care

Remember two reflexes. First, keep PLA parts away from heat sources: an object resting against an oven or in full sun behind glass can be enough to deform it. Second, assume by default that printed parts are washed by hand in lukewarm water: the dishwasher combines heat and moisture, the worst scenario for most printing plastics. A PETG piece cleaned by hand lasts for years.
