A housing hinge has snapped and nobody sells that part on its own. A small pinion in a mechanism no longer catches. Your product prototype works perfectly on screen, but you have no idea how it behaves once the parts are assembled in your hand. Those three projects share one thing: they aren't decorative objects, they are parts that have to fit exactly. That is precisely what resin printing is for.
What counts as a precision part
We talk about a precision part when the function depends on the fineness of the geometry rather than on the volume of the object. A small shim with a well defined recess is a precision part. A large flower pot is not.
A micro-mechanism is something else again: an assembly of small parts that move relative to each other, such as gears, cams, slides, clips and hinges. Everything there plays out in gaps invisible to the naked eye. If the relief on a pinion's teeth isn't rendered cleanly, the mechanism doesn't turn. There is no partial success.
Two processes, two playing fields
3D printing splits into two main families, and choosing the right family matters more than anything else.
FDM (fused filament deposition, a process where the object is built layer by layer from a melted plastic thread) is our tool for everyday objects, spare parts and projects that need volume. It works with materials whose behaviour is well understood: PLA for décor and figurines, PETG when mechanical strength is needed, TPU for flexible parts, Nylon for technical uses.
Resin printing works differently: it cures a liquid resin with great precision. It's the high-definition process, the one we choose for prototypes, precision technical parts and micro-mechanisms. The prototype you need to validate
You've modeled a product and you want to hold it before committing to anything. A resin printed part lets you check what no 3D render can show: does the clip actually snap in, does your hand sit right on the handle, do the two halves close without play.
The precision technical part
Guides, drilling jigs, instrument mounts, adapters between two things that were never designed to go together. These parts often have no aesthetic value at all, but they have to respect an exact geometry to be of any use.
The micro-mechanism
Gears, toothed wheels, locking systems, small articulations. It's the most demanding category, and the one where high definition changes everything.
Models and scale work

Resin or FDM: the question gets settled at quoting time
This is the most important point in this article, and the most widely misunderstood. The right process isn't deduced from the size of the part, but from what you'll actually do with it.
A part meant to take repeated loads, to be handled every day or to live outdoors doesn't follow the same reasoning as a validation prototype or a demonstration mechanism. Rather than deciding for you, we look at your file and your real use case, then tell you what seems most sensible to us. What you send us

Two points are worth stating plainly. Your files are never shared or reused without your agreement, which on a product prototype is no small thing. And you remain responsible for the rights on the files you send us, whether they come from a purchase, a download or your own modeling.

A frequent case: you have no file, you have a broken part in your hand. A small mechanism from a household appliance, a furniture hinge, a lug from a toy nobody makes any more.
